Shaun Dass

Education

Shaun Dass is a Ph.D. Candidate in Organizational Leadership at Adler University, begun in 2021. He holds a Master of Science in Computer and Information Systems from the University of Detroit Mercy, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor completed in 2007, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Windsor, where he studied from 1988 to 1992. He also holds a qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Saskatchewan. As an undergraduate he served as a Student Senator, was active in the Social Science Society and the International Students Society, and hosted a programme on CJAM FM 91.5.

Professional certifications

He is an Ontario Certified Teacher, certified by the Ontario College of Teachers in 2007, and an Ontario Certified English Language Teacher, certified by TESL Ontario in 2018. The latter is the province's highest certification for English language instruction.

Current appointments

Shaun is an Associate Professor at Lambton College and an Adjunct Professor at Conestoga College. He serves as President of the Windsor West Conservative Association, as a member of the By-Law and Governance Committee of the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation, as a Grant Reviewer for the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and as a member of the TESL Ontario University and College Committee.

Teaching and academic leadership

Shaun has taught in this region for close to twenty years. At Lambton College, where he has been an Associate Professor since 2022, he developed and taught courses in data, web and written communication, and led development of the Construction Project Administrative Management curriculum, aligning it with industry standards. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Conestoga College over the same period.

Before that he spent eighteen years as an Adjunct Professor at St. Clair College, from 2006 to 2024, teaching across programmes including Law and Ethics in the Digital Age, Career Success, and Police Foundations. From 2011 to 2018 he taught adult education for the Greater Essex County District School Board, covering English as a Second Language, information technology, GED preparation and job search skills. He has also worked as a curriculum developer, at St. Clair College in 2012 and on a freelance basis in 2023, and served as Faculty Advisor to the Google Developer Student Club at St. Clair College in 2021.

Project management and technology

Alongside teaching, Shaun has spent his career managing projects. From 2022 to 2024 he was a Project Manager at Riverbed Technology, leading instructional design projects and coaching a development and stakeholder team to independence. From 2022 to 2023 he was a Project Manager and Coach at PulseLearning Global in County Dublin, Ireland. From 2020 to 2024, at Diabergs Transformation, he led a team of technology innovators to prototype for the agri-tech and healthcare sectors, producing a disease management mobile application, a remote diagnosis tool for vulnerable populations, and rugose detection for greenhouse crops. He was also a Project Manager at St. Clair College from 2020 to 2021.

From 2021 to 2022 he managed a candidate campaign in the riding of Windsor West for the Ontario general election, on behalf of the Windsor West Progressive Conservative Electoral District Association, where daily data analysis drove a gain of almost 30 percent in votes.

Earlier, through the 1990s and early 2000s, he built a career in information technology as a systems analyst, software engineer and sales engineer across Ontario and Michigan, managing medium and large scale projects including Y2K preparedness and financial technology initiatives.

Labour relations and negotiation

As Chief Negotiator for OSSTF and OPSEU, at both local and provincial level, Shaun led teams through multi-million-dollar labour negotiations, crafting employment contracts that balanced the interests of management and staff. He served as President of the OSSTF Adult Education Instructors from 2013 to 2018, and as CORW for OPSEU at Lambton College from 2024 to 2025.

Governance and financial stewardship

Shaun has directed budgets and finances drawn from government grants, public donations and complex revenue streams for the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation, Ontario colleges and universities committees, and Google. He has reviewed community grant applications for the Ontario Trillium Foundation since 2023, and sits on the By-Law and Governance Committee of the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation.

From 2021 to 2022 he served on the board of the City of Windsor Community Safety and Well-Being plan and on its data team. From 2020 to 2023 he was Director of Data Strategy, Web Presence and Special Projects at the South Asian Centre. He was selected for the United Way Young Leaders of Tomorrow programme and served two years on its board with a focus on finance.

Community leadership

Shaun is a founding member of the LaSalle Centennial Rotary Club. For seven years he co-organized the Google Developers Group in Windsor-Essex, serving as Community Lead from 2018 to 2025 and as Co-Lead Organizer of the Windsor Essex chapter from 2017 to 2024, running technical events including Great North DevFest and promoting artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud, web and mobile development across the local developer community.

In January 2026 he moderated a townhall on homelessness for Southwestern Ontario that convened more than one hundred community leaders and elected officials. For five years he created, directed and hosted a political, entertainment and musical variety programme on CJAM Radio.

Selected projects

From 2021 to 2022 Shaun led a multi-stakeholder project team drawn from several industries to build mCare, a mobile application for remote community healthcare during the pandemic. It was delivered on time and within budget, and won both the Entrepreneurship Award and the Innovation Award at the Ford Capstone Project Competition.

Awards and recognition

His awards include the Entrepreneurship Award and the Innovation Award from the Ford Capstone Project Competition in 2021, District Management Achievement from Canadian Tire in 2003, and the Summit Award from Bell Canada in 2000. He was selected for the United Way Young Leaders of Tomorrow programme.
